Tony Scotchmer “The Rev”
Sad news reaches us that one of our original ESCLA members, The Rev, died on Tuesday following a bad fall last week. Tony Scotchmer – we all knew him as The Rev, had many friends in the Everton community nationwide but ESCLA’s regular travellers from the 1970’s and 80’s will have many fond and interesting memories of him. He moved to Liverpool around 1990 and his association with ESCLA came to an end but members would know to find him in the Top Balcony at Goodison on match day and have a chat. He was membership secretary in our early days, also produced the ESCLA newsletter once upon a time, and was involved along with John Collings in running the ESCLA darts team. The Rev was a Fulham fan and went to Goodison for the FA Cup game in 1975 where for some reason he fell in love with the place, met John Collings in a pub in London a few days later and found out about ESCLA, joined up and from then on was a fixture at Everton matches – he even organised the ESCLA travel to European fixtures in our early days.
On behalf of ESCLA I would like to send deepest sympathy and condolences to Tonys’ family, Sue and children Louise and Richard for their sad loss. There are some nice comments and memories on the ESCLA Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/groups/747421898037890
