Rob Reports On a Great Event and Much More

Wednesday at the Horseshoe and then the Crypt, before returning to the Horseshoe was the ending of a very good ESCLA year socially.

Derek Mountfield was our first guest at the ESCLA AGM in the summer. A man of many stories along with a deep love of our Club.
Book signing was the next event with 90s hero Pat Nevin coming along with author Simon Hart to talk about the 80s player stories in a book called HERE WE GO..
Finally the cream of Goodison idols, Mr.Bob Latchford came to see us this week. Along with the amazing Dr Everton himself David France who has done so much for our former players. they brought ESCLA members together for a pre-Christmas book signing/buying event with the preview documentary about Alex Young also on show.
My special moment was having Bob pour me a pint behind the bar at the Horseshoe whilst the crowd sang “Walks on water”…Although it was the slowest and possible worst pouring of a pint I have ever witnessed, I still feel very privileged and lucky to drink it, and I have to admit, it was the best pint of my life.
Next year?
Who knows as yet..I want to remind you all that I am YOUR social secretary. I want to do things that you want. So please dont be scared to come forward with ideas. If you want two or three events on this scale next year please let me know.
Sandeep Sahi emailed me asking about Dr.France,, and it was this request that started me trying
to do an event of which  Bob Latchford and a very brief appearance by Pat Van Den Hauwe along
with David France came about. So many thanks to Sandeep for the initial inquiry.
ESCLA also have a dart team. Everton dart team currently play in div 3 of the London Provincial Football supporters darts league (APFSCIL) and lost our first game of the season to league leaders Plymouth Argyle on Monday.
Our team consists of an American lady , myself, my missus (Millwall/Everton) a young Liverpool supporting student from Kuala Lumpur, a Welsh Liverpool supporter called Dill, along with two new playing Everton fans from the South.
The standard in the league is poor to very poor at times and we are always looking for more players to help out occasionally, so please if you like beer, the company of toffee fans and darts please get in touch.
Everton can also join the Football supporters football league along with a football supporters Pool league by virtue of being a member of  APFSCIL which is like an umbrella organisation for football fans living in the London and south east area..Provincial teams only. No London teams would be involved…APFSCIL also run social events of which I am also social secretary.
If you are not a member of ESCLA detail of how to join online are now on the website.
